8 months

Here are some current pictures of Corrine that were taken a few weeks ago. As you can see, she is sitting up quite nicely now. She is also crawling around into every nook and cranny she can find. She also is getting really close to cruising around. She loves to stand and hold onto the couch. That's her favorite thing at the moment. She's also getting very brave by letting go of holding onto the couch to try and balance. I suppose she's preparing for the big walk. Oh, she also loves giving hugs and kisses (mostly to Mommy).

The USC Fan

Well New Years Day was a great treat. USC dominated the Rose Bowl and Corrine showed that she is the 4th Generation USC Fan! She loves her new colors and the Trojans!!

The New Year has been a slow start for all of us. Corrine started out with her first flu. After a few visits to the doctor, and some sleepless nights she is finally feeling better. Unfortunately we have gotten the bug too!

Corrine has also started calling Mike DaDa. It is really sweet , but she calls everything Dada so I don't think it really counts :-(

This is a picture of Corrine and Sally (my mom) at Mike's parents' house Christmas Day.

We spent Christmas Eve here in our new home. It was Mike, Corrine, mom, and me. We made ham, mashed potatoes, noodles, macaroni and cheese, and peas. Well, actually mom made dinner. It was eaten by candlelight and Christmas music. We then opened gifts. It was wonderful (but a little sad because our whole family was not present). It was also the first Christmas without Dad. He would have adored Corrine. We spent Christmas at Mike's parents' house. Mom, me, Corrine, and Mike loaded up the car and headed to Pomona for a few days. Mom, Jessie, and Richard all went to Las Vegas the first week of January. Christmas was wonderful this year. It's amazing what how a child adds to the "christmas spirit". I think they probably are the true spirit of Christmas. Even though Corrine didn't have any idea of what was going on (other than the fact that she had a much bigger audience and a few new toys to play with) it was still really fun preparing for it this year. I am sure the upcoming years are going to be even more fun. She received several new toys (ball, piano, flashing ring stacker, baby doll, cell phone...don't worry, it's a toy, tag book, several reading books, her first football), some cool tennis shoes, a few gift cards, college money, and some clothes. Jessie Ann really went all out on the decorations and the food (prime rib and ham). I contributed a cheese ball, pumpkin bars, and some candy. It was the first time I made candy (and it was delicious :). I think we all gained at least 5 pounds just during that week. Oh well that is what the new year is for. That evening we played Scattegories. Which may be mom's new favorite game....if she can remember which letter we're doing.

I'm Hungry

We started Corrine on rice cereal this week. As you can see our first attempt at this was not that successful. We are doing much better now and she is taking a little more food into her mouth instead of all over it.

Picture Day

Todays outing was a trip to get Corrine's 4 month old pictures. She was the perfect baby and was all smiles today. Even the photographer was relieved to have a happy baby for a change. As you can see she's going to be a natural in front of the camera.

P.S. Happy Birthday Grandpa

Happy Seat

We finally found the perfect chair for Corrine. She loves sitting up like the grown ups do. And we finally were able to get her on video laughing.

Just a few more pictures of Corrine and the family. One is our "family picture"; one is a picture of her sitting in her new chair; and one is Corrine saying "ay, you talkin to me?"

September was such a busy month. I had to go back to work which was really difficult. It is very hard leaving Corrine every morning. But, at least she's in good hands. She stayed with Jesse, Mike's mom for the first week in September and then my mom, Sally now. Thankfully Grandma Sally has decided to come and live with us for the duration of the school year to help us save money on daycare. Not to mention it would be reallllly hard leaving Corrine there everyday. My mom has fallen in love with her all over again. These are just a couple of pictures from this month. We are still moving in and working, so pictures unfortunately take a back burner. Corrine is losing her hair as you can see from the pictures. In one of the pictures, Mommy and Corrine had to take a nap after a hard day of play.

The Lewis Family

In August, Lisl, Rhodri, and Rhiannon Lewis came by for a visit. They currently live in it was great to see them if only for a little while. Lisl is currently expecting baby number 2. She looks great and we wish them a very safe delivery. As you can see from the picture, Corrine began to get a little hungry by the end of our visit. She only really cries like that when she's hungry. We have a very good and happy baby.

Corrine continues to grow...

Here is a picture of the house we recently bought. We are very happy to be in our new home. It feels like we've been living here a long time, but it's only been two weeks. We still have a lot of work to do (mainly putting things away and finding places for things). It's really difficult for me to do any of that while I'm at home during the day because watching Corrine is full time activity. We'll post more pictures of the inside when that gets a little settled.

She has thus far has done TWO kidding. Straight from her belly she lifted herself with straight arms. Who needs tummy time with muscles like that! She continues to roll over when she's mad at being on her tummy. I think she is ready to try and start walking because she hates laying around. She is also smiling at us with great regularity. She's especially happy after a good night's sleep. By the way, for four days straight she has slept from 9:30 to 6:00am.

Corrine is now two months old and she is growing like a weed. We don't have her weight yet (we will in a week), but she feels like she's gained at least 5 pounds :) These are a few pictures showing how she's grown. The one in the car seat should be compared to an old picture we took of her the first week she was born. Then we had two head/neck inserts; now the inserts are gone.

Corrine's first coo

Corrine has a new best friend. She loves this light up/musical stuffed animal that she received from our friend Stacey from Indiana (it was her daughter's favorite toy). She listens to it every time she gets her diaper changed. It distracts her and makes our job a lot easier. Well, Corrine is just starting to smile and she likes to give smiles to her new friend. She also is trying really hard to talk to the rest of us. She opens and closes her mouth like she's talking, but nothing comes out. However, yesterday she did coo to her best friend when we laid them down together. It was a short one, but it was there. I think she may have had her first laugh too....but that was in her sleep while dreaming. I wonder what a six week old baby dreams about....

Corrine vs Mommy and Daddy

These are two pictures that compare Corrine's feet with her Daddy's and her hands to her Mommy's. Corrine definitely has her Daddy's feet but it is kind of hard to tell from the picture because she has her "Quesada" toe curled. But trust us, her feet are identical to Mike's. Her hands are not exactly like her Mama's, but we liked the idea of comparing the sizes.

Pictures of Corrine

Family, cont

Stacy's cousin, Melissa and her daughter Erica from Illinois.

Stacy's sister, Gerri holding Corrine when she came to visit from Indiana. We think Corrine may have inherited her Aunt Gerri's nose.

These are the two grandmas who helped us out tremendously. We feel extremely fortunate to have so much help for the first month of Corrine's life. Mike's mom, Jessie Ann (at the top), stayed with us for the first two weeks in which she helped with not only taking care of Corrine but the housework as well. Stacy's mom, Sally, came after that and has stayed for three weeks. She has truly fallen in love with Corrine. She, too has been such a help. They both let me sleep in the morning after taking care of the baby at night. I'm really going to miss that!!! All of us will miss the grandmas.

Daddy's Girl

Corrine loves sleeping on Daddy's chest. It's definitely her favorite place to fall asleep. Good thing Mommy keeps an eye on them both.

Corrine Sleeping

Corrine can sleep through anything during the day. Too bad that's not true at night. But, Mike and I can't complain too much because she is sleeping 3-5 hours at a time at night (which I hear is pretty good for a newborn).

Corrine Crying vs Sleeping

Had to post a picture of her crying b/c that's all she does between 10:00PM and 7:00 AM!! Well these shots were a little later this morning. Corrine had her first check-up today and got a clean bill of health. Prior to going it is obvious she does not like to take a bath, but afterward she doesn't mind being clean after all.
